A five-storey, 60-unit apartment building has been proposed on a Markdale property just off of Highway 10.

A five-storey apartment building has been proposed just outside of downtown Markdale.

The Municipality of Grey Highlands has received an application for a 60-unit, five-storey apartment building in Markdale at Toronto Street North (Highway 10) and Greenview Lane.

The proposal is on property located near the LCBO store and the local OPP office.

The application requires an amendment to the municipality’s zoning bylaw. A virtual public meeting on the proposal will be held on Feb. 24.

The public meeting was originally scheduled to be held on Jan. 27, but there was an error resulting in the public notification requirements not being met. This resulted in the rescheduling of the meeting.

The proposal includes 70 parking spaces, outdoor amenity space and parkette that would be available to the entire community.

Full details about the application and public meeting can be found online here.

The proposal is the second large apartment building that has come forward to Grey Highlands in the past two years. In Jan. 2024, council approved an application for a six-storey apartment building with 180 units that would be located on Main Street West, adjacent to the popular CP Rail Trail.
