Grey County has announced it is ending three of its local transit routes.
On Feb. 25, the county sent out a notice advising that transit routes between Owen Sound and Dundalk and Owen Sound and the Town of The Blue Mountains would be ending on March 31.
“The provincial funding program for the Grey Transit Route (GTR) will expire on Monday, March 31,” the notice states.
Route 1 between Owen Sound and Dundalk on Highways 6 and 10 will come to an end, along with Route 3 and 4 between Owen Sound and The Blue Mountains on Highway 26 will also be cancelled.
The notice adds that the county had been receiving $2,774,000 in funding from the province through the Ontario Community Transportation Program.
The county said Route 2 between Dundalk and Orangeville will continue “at this time.”
The county notice asks that members of the public with questions or concerns to contact the county directly at [email protected] or by calling 519-370-2094.
“We understand this news will be disappointing to passengers,” the notice states. “Please do not express your frustration with your driver.”
The notice also thanks Driverseat Owen Sound, the company that has operated the service the past five years, for its “professionalism and exceptional service.”
