Most local municipalities will see bump-ups in their provincial funding in 2024.
Last week, the Ontario government announced its allotments to municipalities across the province through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF). Of the province’s 444 municipalities, 390 will receive funding through the $500 million program. The funding is unconditional and can be used for any local priorities and needs.
Many municipalities across the local region will see an increase in the amount of money they will receive.
In 2024, the Town of The Blue Mountains will receive $1,350,300 through the program. This is an increase of $36,300. The Municipality of Grey Highlands will receive $1,023,000 in 2024 - up by $1,200 over 2023.
Clearview Township will receive $962,900 in 2024, up $10,600 over 2023. The Town of Wasaga Beach will receive less OMPF money in 2024. Its share is dropping to $943,100 this is a decrease of $166,400 from the previous year.
Grey and Simcoe counties and the Town of Collingwood do not receive money from the OMPF program.
The municipal partnership fund is described by the province as a general assistance grant given to northern and rural municipalities, with specific support for areas with limited property assessment.

Township of Chatsworth - $8721,200 - +$8,700 over 2023.
Township of Georgian Bluffs - $887,900 - +$9,200 over 2023.
Town of Hanover - $2,055,000 - +$125,900 over 2023.
Municipality of Meaford - $1,367,900 - +$56,500 over 2023.
City of Owen Sound - $2,070,900 - +$109,900 over 2023.
Township of Southgate - $667,300 - -$13,000 over 2023.
Municipality of West Grey - $1,489,300 - +$4,200 over 2023.
“Maintaining a close relationship with our municipal partners is critical as we build a strong Ontario together,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, minister of finance, in a news release, “Our government recognizes the unique challenges northern, rural and small communities face. This is why the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund, along with other programs, are critical in building stronger and resilient communities across the province.”
