Grey Highlands council has adopted a new and updated strategic plan.
At its meeting on Dec. 6, council, in an unanimous vote, approved the new strategic plan to guide the municipality for the next four years (2024-2027).
Council’s approval of the new guiding document came after municipal staff conducted a survey of local residents about the proposed strategic plan. Staff reported to council that the survey results showed general agreement with the priorities and vision in the plan. Council had put its finishing touches on the document at a committee of the whole meeting in September.
“A strategic plan is our vision of where we’re going,” said CAO Karen Govan.
Council’s approval of the new plan came with a couple of tweaks. Council voted in favour of keeping the vision statement from the previous strategic plan of: “Grey Highlands will be Canada’s most inspired and well-managed rural community.”
In addition, council added “tradition” and “inclusivity” to the list of values in the document. They join: “respect”, “integrity”, “accountability” and “excellence.”
The municipality’s senior management team will track progress on the new plan through quarterly reviews. Staff will report to council and the public any achievements, challenges and obstacles.
Govan will also report about the efforts to implement the strategic plan through her annual “year in review” report to council.
“It’s very much a living document,” said Govan.
