The Town of The Blue Mountains has officially named Adam Smith acting CAO.
The town announced the change in a news release sent out on Jan. 15. The news release states that CAO Shawn Everitt is on “extended leave” for “an undetermined period of time.”
Everitt has not attended a council or committee of the whole meeting since before the Christmas break and during that time Smith has been sitting in the CAO’s place in the council chambers during meetings.
Smith was in the CAO’s seat during council’s committee of the whole budget meeting held on Jan. 14.
Smith has been with the town since 2022 in the role of director of planning and development services.
“On behalf of council, I would like to offer my gratitude and appreciation to Adam for his commitment and dedication to the town in accepting this acting role,” Mayor Andrea Matrosovs said in the news release. “With his collaborative approach and dedication to the community, he has already made a considerable impact, and town council looks forward to continued progress under his leadership.”
The news release also stated: “further updates regarding Chief Administrative Officer Shawn Everitt will be provided when appropriate.”
