The Blue Mountains council has renewed its support for a working group of local mayors and CAOs.
At its committee of the whole meeting on April 24, council endorsed a staff report that recommended the continuation of the South Georgian Bay Regional Mayors and CAOs forum.
The group, which includes the mayors and CAOs of The Blue Mountains, Meaford, Grey Highlands, Collingwood, Clearview and Wasaga Beach, has been meeting quarterly since it formed in March 2021.
The forum was the initiative of former Collingwood mayor Brian Saunderson, who is now the MPP for Simcoe-Grey
The staff report also included updated terms of reference for the group.
Mayor Andrea Matrosovs and CAO Shawn Everitt praised the forum and said it was worthwhile continuing the meetings.
“It definitely is a working group. We have action items. We have various different regional projects,” said Matrosovs. “It’s very valuable.”
Everitt said the forum has become an important mechanism for inter-municipal communications and information sharing.
“We believe there is significant benefit to having this group continue,” he said.
