TBM, Grey Highlands, Grey County advise of holiday closures

Office for the Town of The Blue Mountains, Municipality of Grey Highlands and Grey County will be closed during the holidays

The Town of The Blue Mountains has advised local residents of upcoming service changes during the holiday season.

Town hall in Thornbury will be closed from 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022, until Monday, January 2, 2023. Town hall will re-open with regular hours on Jan. 2.

Holiday curbside waste collection will occur as usual on Monday, Dec. 26, and will continue on normal collection days for the remainder of the week. Operations staff have provided additional reminders regarding collection:

  • Christmas tree collection is from Jan. 2 to 5 on a resident’s normal day of collection. Trees must be curbside by 7 a.m. with no plastic bags or decorations and free of snow
  • Residents are asked to ensure their garbage box is accessible and clear of snow for waste collection
  • The first garbage bag is free, second bag must be tagged
  • Bags can weigh up to 18 kgs (40 lbs)
  • When waste collection service is disrupted, double the limit will be collected on the next collection day

The town's waste disposal site will close at noon on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022. The site will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, Dec. 27.

All essential services will continue to operate throughout the Holiday season. Online services are available 24/7 on the Town website.

The Municipality of Grey Highlands is also advising of holiday closures/changes.

Grey Highlands municipal offices will be closed from Dec. 26, 2022 to Jan. 2, 2023. Regular office hours resume Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023.

Grey Highlands is also advising the public that there will be no changes to curbside garbage and recycling pickup during the holidays.

The municipality has also announced that its waste diversion sites will be closed on Dec. 25 and 25 and again on Jan. 1 and 2.

The municipality reminds local residents that the new bin/cart collection system for garbage and recycling will start on Jan. 2.

A number of Grey County facilities will be closed over the holiday season.

The Grey County administration building, provincial offences court, Hanover EarlyON Centre and other Grey County satellite service locations will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 24 until Sunday, Jan. 1. Offices will reopen for regular hours on Monday, Jan, 2, except for Grey Roots Museum and Archives which will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

All 24-hour services, such as plowing roads, paramedic emergency response, community paramedicine programs, and long-term care services, will continue throughout the holidays.
