The Town of The Blue Mountains will hold a public open house about its Official Plan Review on Wednesday, July 27 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at town hall in Thornbury.
In advance of the meeting, the town and its Official Plan Review Steering committee are advising the public that the proposed amendments and technical changes for Phase 1 of the Official Plan Review project are now available on the project webpage.
The documents available include:
- Official Plan Phase 1 Summary Matrix: Provides an overview of the proposed changes, rationale for changes, and the Phase 1 or Phase 2 timing for consideration.
- Official Plan Amendment: 5-Year Review: Provides the technical changes to the Official Plan. This is the legal document that provides all amendments to the current Official Plan.
- July 2022 Official Plan ‘Clean Version’: Provides a clean version of the Official Plan incorporating the proposed technical amendments.
“The public engagement has been exceptional, and we hope that as many members of the community as possible will review the proposed amendments and technical changes so they can be informed and ready to share their thoughts at the public consultation sessions,” said councillor and chair of the steering committee Paula Hope.
In addition to the open house on July 27, the town has scheduled a public meeting on August 8 at 1 p.m. Details for the two meetings are as follows:
- The public open house will be held on July 27 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the town hall council chambers. Registration is not required to attend the open house, which will be held in a casual, drop-in format where participants can speak with members of the Official Plan Steering Committee, town staff and project consultants.
- A public meeting will be held on August 8 at 1 p.m. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format on Microsoft Teams and in the town hall council chambers. Those that wish to speak virtually at the Public Meeting are asked to pre-register with the town Clerk no later than August 2, 2022 at 10 a.m. Written comments received by August 5, 2022 will be read by the town Clerk at the public meeting.
When completed, the Official Plan will guide all future land-use decisions in TBM, including residential and commercial development, the type of permitted housing, density and intensification standards, and how agricultural and natural features will be protected.
