The Town of The Blue Mountains has announced that it has received more than $1.3 million from a provincial grant program.
At its committee of the whole meeting on Feb. 25, council received a report from town staff announcing that the town had secured $1,337,250 in funding through the province’s Housing Enabling Core Services fund.
“This is another good news story,” said Alan Pacheco, the town’s director of operations.
The town will use the provincial grant cash to support engineering and repair work for 10 bridges and two culverts.
The town will begin design work and engineering for the various projects immediately to be completed by December 2026. Work will commence in April 2026 and will be finished in December 2027.
“This funding will support essential repair, and renewal works for municipal bridges, culverts, and guiderails, extending the lifespan of critical infrastructure and alleviating pressure on the town’s Asset Replacement Reserves,” Pruthvi Desai, the town’s manager of capital projects, said in his report to council.
Council received the report from staff and passed a resolution authorizing the mayor and clerk to sign the necessary paperwork with the Ministry of Infrastructure to receive the funds.
