2024 Canada Day Events & Town Hall Office Closure

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents of events in the Town celebrating Canada Day and of upcoming service changes due to the Holiday.

Canada Day Events

There are a variety of events happening in The Blue Mountains for the Canada Day holiday. The annual parade will take place on Monday, July 1, leaving from Clarksburg to Thornbury at 11:00 a.m. Clarksburg will also be hosting a pancake breakfast at the Royal Canadian Legion, live music, and face painting. Thornbury will have music, the Rotary hot dog tent, face painting and birthday cake at noon. A full list of event details is available at www.visitbluejuly1.ca.

Blue Mountain Village has live music all weekend (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) and Fireworks at the base of Smart Alec at 10 p.m. on Monday, July 1. Details are available at www.bluemountainvillage.ca.

Road Closure

Bruce Street South (Grey Road 13) will be closed between Louisa Street and Highway 26 from 10:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1st. 

Town Hall

Town Hall will be closed on Monday, July 1, 2024. Town Hall will re-open with regular hours on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Waste Collection

Curbside waste collection will occur as usual on Monday, July 1, 2024, and for the remainder of the week. Operations staff have provided additional reminders regarding collection:

  • Bag limit weekly - first bag is free, second bag must be tagged, third bag must have two tags.
  • Garbage, Compost and Recycling must be curbside by 7:00 a.m.
  • All material placed in your garbage and compost must be bagged.
  • Sort the grey and blue recycling bins according to the Waste Resource Guide.
  • Cardboard is flattened, cut into 18" x 24" size and placed next to your recycle bins.
  • Ensure your garbage box Full/Empty tab is visible to the collection company.
  • Solid Waste Disposal Site Hours: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

All essential services will continue to operate throughout the holiday weekend. Online services are available 24/7 on the Town website.
