The Collingwood Public Library is reopening its doors to the public for the first time since March, though the won't be open all the way.

"We are working toward opening our doors and services in a measured and responsible way," states the library website.

Starting Monday, July 20, the library will be open for patrons to check out items with some restrictions in place.

Patrons are encouraged to call or email to place holds on materials remotely and then visit the library in person to check out their items on hold. Patrons will not be permitted to browse the stacks yet.

Library staff will also maintain a limited collection of items on display in the library foyer. Members of the public are welcome to look at those collections and pick up items to check-out while they are at the library.

The library will also be offering two public computers. Sessions on the computers will be limited to 30 minutes.

Printing and faxing service will also resume.

Virtual programming will continue and you can pick up Story Time Kits from the library in person.

The library doors will be open Monday to Friday from noon to 6 p.m. Public washrooms will not be available.

The mandatory mask order from the Simcoe Muskoka District medical officer of health requires everyone to wear a mask indoors in public spaces including libraries. Children under five years old are exempt from wearing a mask, as are those with medical conditions preventing them from wearing face coverings. For more on the mask order, click here.

Between now and Monday you can still pick up items through the library's curbside service. For more information on the Collingwood Public Library's services available during the pandemic, click here. You can reach the library by phone at 705-445-1571 or by email at [email protected].
