LETTER: Calling TikTok a 'threat' is 'weak-kneed' attempt to block information

'This is nothing more than a government that has realized it has lost the support of the public and is grasping at straws to try and stay in power,' suggests letter writer

CollingwoodToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via the website. The following letter was sent in response to an article about the federal government ordering TikTok to wind-down Canadian operations, citing national security risk.

TikTok a threat to national security? Only in the minds of Trudeau and his cabinet.

Citing a social media platform like TikTok as a threat to "national security" is a weak-kneed attempt by the federal Liberals to block the spread of information regarding the misdeeds of the current government and to try and mitigate the Poilievre Conservatives from building their already large grassroots support.

Much like forcing Meta and Google to stop sharing news on their platforms because they "weren't sharing profits" this is nothing more than a government that has realized it has lost the support of the public and is grasping at straws to try and stay in power.
