LETTER: Loss of trees along Sixth Street concerning

Letter writer suggests option she says would make cyclists feel safer and minimize loss of trees

I am concerned about the trees coming down on Sixth Street when reconstructing the street.

Now, what I do think is the bike lane is already too slender and you can only walk on one side.

Why not make a bike lane on one side of the road and leave the sidewalk for people who walk? To me, then, you really aren’t getting rid of all the trees and I’m sure cyclists would feel safer on their own side of the road.

As far as I’m concerned, no matter what the decision ends up being, we are going to lose trees, but maybe not all of them.
