The following letter was sent in response to the permanent closure of the Salvation Army thrift store in Collingwood.

I grew up going to the Salvation Army, or, as my grandmother and mother called it, the Sally Ann.

I would shop at this location up to three times a week and became very close with the women who worked there.

Not only am I sad to see it close, I am incredibly disappointed and hope the staff were well compensated.

If there is anyway to reopen or open another thrift store, I would be very interested in helping with that process.

It was a vital part of finding affordable clothing in Collingwood; something that has been rendered nonexistent with many stores now catering to higher budgets.

It is important to consider the community that lives in Collingwood, not solely the tourists that visit. Stores offering affordable clothing is a good place to start.
