The following letter was sent in response to the permanent closure of the Salvation Army thrift store in Collingwood.

I have been a longtime shopper at the thrift shop in Collingwood.

My mother was in a nursing home and I used to buy her clothes there. She could no longer deal with buttons or zippers and the ladies who worked there would point out skirts with elastic waists when I came in. I couldn't find them elsewhere. I was grateful.

After my mother passed, I shopped for ladies in the long-term home where I volunteered. They had very little. The ladies who worked in the store were a delight. I also donated whenever I could.

I am very upset to hear about its closing. Shame on them to take away a small pleasure for people in need.
