This Thanksgiving weekend marks the end of the Collingwood farmers' market for one more season and the return of the art chair auction.
Those who have been downtown Collingwood over the last few weeks will have noticed original painted Muskoka-style chairs set up on Hurontario Street. The chairs were designed by area artists with the end goal of putting the chairs up for auction in support of more public art in the downtown spaces.
The final farmers' market opens in the Pine Street parking lot at 8 a.m. on Oct. 12 and the silent auction bidding for the art chairs begins at 10 a.m. in the parkette on Hurontario St. across from town hall, which is adjacent to the farmers' market space.
The minimum bid for each chair is $75 and anyone who purchases a chair must pay for it and take it home at 1 p.m. sharp on Oct. 12.
Proceeds from the annual art chair auction will be used for more public art installations in the downtown area.
