Collingwood council chambers is on the second floor of town hall at 97 Hurontario Street.

The Town of Colingwood has been working on a revamp for the zoning bylaw, which determines what development can occur where, and next week two public sessions offer residents a chance to weigh in on the town's future.

On Oct. 23, the town will host two virtual sessions, one at 2 p.m. and one at 6:30 p.m. for the public to participate in discussion around the recommendations for the new zoning bylaw.

There are five discussion papers already published on the Engage Collingwood page here, and those papers will lead the discussion in five areas:

  1. Official Plan and town standards: ensure we’re all on the same page for a cohesive vision.
  2. Bylaw structure and usability: discover design options that help everyone understand the zoning bylaw.
  3. Intensification, design and sustainability: Learn how to create vibrant, sustainable communities.
  4. Contemporary zoning trends: explore the latest trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
  5. Site-specific provisions: discuss tailored solutions for unique site needs.

Registration is required, and can be done online at collingwoodzbl.eventbrite.ca. A link to the virtual meeting will be sent on the day of the event.

You can send more feedback following the virtual conversations via email to [email protected] by Nov. 15.

The Town of Collingwood provided the following information to explain a zoning bylaw:

A zoning bylaw is more than just rules—it’s a legally enforceable roadmap to a complete, sustainable, and thriving Collingwood. It helps us manage land use, protect our environment, and ensure our community is safe and healthy. Together, we can make sure it meets our needs for today and tomorrow. This presentation provides more information about the proposed zoning bylaw.
