Parkinson Canada recognizes Living Better with Parkinson’s as a qualified and experienced organization, which supports the development and implementation of local health, wellness, and educational initiatives that directly address unmet needs of people living with Parkinson’s disease and/or their care partners.

In so doing, Living Better with Parkinson’s is one of the first provincial organizations to be awarded a CARE Fund grant amounting to $7,800.

This grant will support a new pilot program that will be introduced this fall called Mindfulness Meditation or MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy). A minimum of 15 participants will benefit from the unique and impactful program led by Dr. Pat Rockman and Allison McLay.

“On behalf of the Living Better with Parkinson’s community, thank you, Parkinson’s Canada, for recognizing the value of supporting such an important program for people living with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers/partners in South Georgian Bay. Navigating the challenges of living with a neurological disease can be overwhelming. Knowing that this pilot program is being made fully accessible due to the generous support from the CARE Fund grant is significant,” says Catherine Smart, executive director of Living Better with Parkinson’s.

The initiative of the CARE Fund aims to enhance the quality of life for those affected by Parkinson’s disease within diverse and underserved communities across Canada by empowering them with comprehensive support, education, and wellness resources.
