Most masking mandates in Ontario lift today. Don't throw away the face coverings quite yet, as they are still required in some settings.
Today (March 21), masks are no longer required in most public places, including schools.
The areas people still need to mask are public transit, long-term care and retirement homes, healthcare settings, shelters, jails, and congregate care and living settings such as homes for people with developmental disabilities.
Effective today, the province is also dropping the need for schools to cohort students and daily on-site screening. For businesses, passive screening and safety plans are no longer required.
Earlier this month, Ontario dropped mandatory vaccination policies.
Masks are still mandatory at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital for patients, caregivers, employees, and credentialed staff.
All of the remaining masking requirements and directives are expected to lift April 27 when the final extension of the Reopening Ontario Act expires.
