Kimber Valley Farms is hosting its annual fall Farmers and Makers Market on Sept. 28.

This Saturday, Kimber Valley Farms, a unique Icelandic sheep fibre farm in Beaver Valley, is welcoming the public to its fifth-annual fall farmers' and makers' market.

The market runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside a horse arena, and will showcase 40 local farmers and makers offering one-of-a-kind items.

“We have strived over the past five years to ensure we are consistently providing an exciting market atmosphere full of fun and talented people," said co-owner of Kimber Valley Farms, Lynn Thordarson in a news release. "We know our extended community is special and we like to treat all of our visitors with a memorable experience that not only includes browsing vendors, but also taking in the wonderful ambience that is Beaver Valley, our farm, our sheep and of course the views! Fall is simply incredible here.”

In addition to the market, the farm's owners invite their guests to visit their "Viking sheep" and learn more about their ancient ancestors.

"In the spirit of Iceland’s Réttir, the annual September roundup and sorting of the country’s 400,000 sheep, which freely graze across the mountains and countryside in the summer, Kimber Valley Farms encourages you to walk the designated path from the field side parking area to take in the hillsides and vistas, see the sheep in the fields, learn about this longstanding cultural tradition and feel the energy of Icelandic sheep farming. This ancient tradition of farmers is followed by a community gathering and celebration. Lynn and Catherine hope you enjoy the market’s food, music and community atmosphere in the same way that Icelanders do."

There will be 40 vendors at the market, for more on the vendors, check out Kimber Valley Farms on Instagram.

Every market, the farm supports a local charity, be sure to stop by the Georgian Triangle Humane Society’s booth to learn more. Donations of dry cat and dog kibble will be greatly welcomed.

Kimber Valley Farms is located at 236087 Beaver Valley Road, close to the intersection of 119 and Grey Road 13.

The market organizers ask shoppers to leave their dogs at home.
