The Georgian Bay Titans under 15 boys rugby team finished the season fourth in the province after a tied bronze-medal game went into penalty kicks.
Todd Hammond, the team’s head coach, said it was a good season and some great games.
The provincial championships took place in Markham yesterday. The Titans started the day with a win against Peterborough, then a loss to Ajax. For the bronze medal game, the Titans finished in a 12-12 tie with Kingston, and lost in the penalty kicks.
Earlier this week (Wednesday, Aug. 21) the Titans won their Division (Central Ontario) at Harbourview Park in Collingwood with a score of 20-12 against Barrie RFC. The Titans went into the provincial championships with nine wins and one loss to Oakville.
The team includes several members of the Collingwood Collegiate Institute junior boys rugby team, which finished second at the high school provincial championships this week.
The Georgian Bay Titans U15 squad has 32 team members from all over the Georgian Bay Area, travelling from as far as Wiarton for the game. Four team members also earned spots on Team Ontario this summer.
