A local foundation has donated $20,000 in memory of its namesake, the late Taryn Hill, to the local women and children's shelter, My Friend's House.
The Touch of Taryn Foundation was created by Hill's family to remember her enthusiasm for life and her gratitude for the organizations and services that helped her leave an abusive relationship.
The foundation now works with organizations and charities that work to make those resources available to families in transition and/or crisis, and by supporting mental health programs.
The foundation has donated more than $105,000 to the community.
The funds given to My Friend's House were raised at the foundation's 6th-annual slo-pitch tournament in Thornbury on Aug. 24.
"We are so proud to be able to help My Friends House with their goals. We would like to extend a huge thank you to our sponsors, teams, volunteers, people that attended and the local community as a whole," said Scott Hill in an email to CollingwoodToday. :I have always said this community is second to none when it comes to supporting the Touch of Taryn Foundation and other great causes"
