OPP charge Collingwood man with racing on Highway 89 near Mount Forest

Vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 150 km/h, according to police

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On Sept. 26, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a member of the West Region Traffic Support Unit of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was monitoring traffic on Highway 89, east of Mount Forest. 

The officer observed a blue pick-up truck travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 150 km/h.

As a result, Jack Thomas Dupont, 18 years old of Collingwood has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph.

The defendant's drivers licence was seized for a period of 30 days and the vehicle was seized for 14 days as per statute.
