Wasaga woman gets drunk driving charges after hitting light pole

Police say they found the vehicle crashed into the pole while on patrol in Wasaga Beach

A Wasaga Beach woman now faces impaired driving charges after crashing a vehicle into a light pole. 

According to the Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police(OPP), officers were on patrol on Main St. in Wasaga Beach on Jan. 7 when they found a vehicle that had struck a light pole around 11:30 p.m. 

"After speaking with the driver, officers conducted an impaired driving investigation," states the news release from OPP. 

 As a result, a 58-year-old woman from Wasaga Beach, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

"Drivers and members of the public are reminded to respect our communities, comply with all laws, and not jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighbourhoods with risky, illegal, and dangerous actions," states the OPP release.
