Serious repair work has been ongoing at Kimberley Hall the past few months.

The newly repaired Kimberley Hall will get its chance to host a Grey Highlands town hall gathering.

At its meeting on Aug. 7, Grey Highlands council approved a plan to schedule a town hall style meeting at the Kimberley Hall on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 7 p.m.

This town hall meeting was to be held at the Markdale Community Centre, however, a town hall meeting scheduled for Kimberley on May 21 had to be moved to Markdale because Kimberley was closed.

Over the past several months, Kimberley Hall has been undergoing significant repairs to the exterior of the building and has been closed to the public.

Council decided that since the May 21 town hall meeting had been moved to Markdale, they would hold the next town hall in Kimberley. The repair work to the hall is nearly complete.

The meeting was originally scheduled for August 20 in Markdale, but that date conflicted with several members of council attending the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference.

Multiple members of council suggested the town hall meeting could be the informal re-opening of Kimberley Hall.

Mayor Paul McQueen suggested a ribbon cutting ceremony/event before the proceedings.

“We spent a lot of money there,” the mayor noted.
