The Flesherton and Thornbury farmers’ markets are set to open this weekend.
“Both markets will open this weekend with the public health stipulation that we have a predominance of food and food products overall,” said Ron Barnett, market manager for both the Thornbury and Flesherton markets.
Both markets are about a week late to start the season as organizers were waiting on the Grey Bruce Health Unit for approval of COVID-19 safety protocols.
Barnett said the health unit approved plans for both markets last Friday and both the municipality of Grey Highlands and the Town of The Blue Mountains OK’d the health-approved operational and safety plans earlier this week.
“As restrictions for Grey-Bruce are eased over the summer, we hope that some of the restrictions and protocols might also ease for us too,” Barnett added.
The Flesherton Farmers’ Market will open on Saturday, May 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Flesherton Arena.
The Thornbury Farmers’ Market will be opening this Sunday, May 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Smith Memorial Park between the Town of Blue Mountains town hall and Beaver Valley Outreach on Highway 26.
Market organizers ask that customers respect the COVID-19 protocols that have been put in place, which include maintaining social distance, wearing a face covering and shopping in a one-way direction around the market.
Collingwood Farmers' Market opened last weekend and will return every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pine Street parking lot.
