The following letter was sent in response to the permanent closure of the Salvation Army thrift store in Collingwood.
I am very sad to read of the permanent closing of the Sally Ann thrift store.
I have been a patron and donor of 'good stuff' for twenty years plus. I love the place, and always found some good items of clothing and/or home decor, which now decorate my humble cabin.
I wish they were more forthcoming about the reason(s) behind this closure.
It was all a sudden, shocking discovery to get to the front door and find it locked and dark inside when I went in mid-September.
Nothing was ever said about the why.
It seems to me that the community does deserve some sort of answer(s) about that.
We have all supported the store, have donated and shopped; it is a community resource that will be much missed.
I'm very sad and disappointed at this outcome.
Wondering if there might be any slight chance of it reopening in the not-too-distant future. One can only hope.
