Local Ontario Provincial Police officers were patrolling roads this long weekend when they pulled over two drivers, one speeding more than 70 km/h over the limit and another with open liquor in the vehicle.
According to a news release from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP, most drivers obeyed the rules this weekend, but among those who didn't was a 40 year-old driver whose breath test revealed a blood alcohol concentration over three times the legal limit. The driver also had open liquor in the vehicle. Police pulled the driver over after receiving a complaint.
The driver's vehicle was impounded, their licence suspended, and they'll face charges in court later.
Another driver, an 18-year-old from Toronto was caught driving 151 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Their licence was suspended and the vehicle, which was registered to the driver's mother, was impounded for 14 days.
"The hard work paid off as our roadways in Collingwood and The Blue Mountains were free of serious collision," stated the Collingwood OPP news release. "A big thank you to all motorists who drove responsibly and drove sober."
