Police arrest two people for impaired driving in Collingwood

Local police arrested and charged two drivers in Collingwood this weekend for drinking and driving-related offences. 

Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police patrolled local roads and report two separate arrests for impaired driving. 

On Sept. 20, shortly after 5 p.m. local officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Poplar Sideroad at Concession 10. There were no injuries reported, however police report one of the drivers was discovered to be under the influence of alcohol. 

According to a news release, a 34-year-old from Maxwell was arrested and charged for driving a vehicle while impaired and was also given a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to yield to traffic. The accused will face the charges in court later next month. 

Also on Sept. 20, officers conducting a RIDE check at 11 p.m. on Mountain Road in Collingwood and came across a motorist under the influence of alcohol. 

The 34-year-old driver from Collingwood was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and will face the charge in court in October. 

In both cases, the accused drivers' vehicles were impounded for seven days and driver's licences suspended for 90 days. 

Additionally, over the course of the weekend, officers issued four drivers with a 3-day licence suspension for registering 'warn' ranges on approved screening devices, states the news release.
