TINY TWP. — Provincial police believe they have identified the vehicle and driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that occurred Thursday night near Wyevale and left a cyclist with serious injuries.
Southern Georgian Bay OPP say a male resident from northern Simcoe County spoke to officers Saturday afternoon at the detachment regarding the fail-to-remain crash on Simcoe County Road 6.
"Investigators are satisfied that the driver of the vehicle and the vehicle that was involved in the crash have been identified," police said in a release.
Police did not release any other details in Saturday night's update.
"The investigation is continuing and further updates will be provided as they become available," according to the release.
The collision happened shortly before 9 p.m., Sept. 10, in the northbound lane of Simcoe County Road 6, south of Wyevale in Tiny Township.
Officers responded to a request from Simcoe County paramedics to attend the scene after a motorist located an injured cyclist and called 911.
The injured cyclist, a 44-year-old Wasaga Beach man, was triaged at the scene and transported to Georgian Bay General Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries. Police have not provided an update on his condition.
At the time, police said they were looking for what was believed to be a 2019-2021 Nissan Infiniti QX60, blue in colour, that may have had damage to its passenger-side headlights, mirror and trim.
