Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is excited to announce the reappointment of Mr. Barry Goodwin as chair of the board of directors for a third term, alongside the introduction of two new board members.

These appointments reflect CGMH’s unwavering dedication to a prosperous future for healthcare in South Georgian Bay.

Mr. Goodwin, a dedicated board member since 2020 and chair since June 2022, brings a wealth of experience from his tenure as a professor at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and his extensive career in government and infrastructure development. Under his leadership, CGMH is poised to continue its transformative journey toward building a new, state-of-the-art hospital.

“I am deeply honored to be reappointed as chair,” said Mr. Goodwin. “I look forward to providing continued leadership to the board of directors at this important stage in our hospital’s history as we eagerly anticipate provincial approval for our new hospital. I remain committed to leading our board with determination and purpose, ensuring we are well positioned to meet the needs of our growing community.”

CGMH president and CEO Michael Lacroix expressed his gratitude for Mr. Goodwin’s continued leadership: “Barry’s expertise in governance and his deep understanding of the healthcare landscape are invaluable as we navigate this pivotal time. His leadership will be instrumental as we move closer to realizing our ambitious goal to build a new hospital for South Georgian Bay.”

The hospital is also pleased to welcome Ms. Sherry Espin and Mr. Craig Lillico to the CGMH board of directors. Ms. Espin, a researcher and professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, will bring her expertise in nursing and patient care quality to the board of directors. Mr. Lillico, with his extensive background in financial management and non-profit leadership, will provide critical insights as a member of the resource and audit, and people and compensation committees.

“Sherry and Craig had the opportunity to engage with the board before becoming official members through our innovative governance model that allows community members to serve on board standing committees,” said Mr. Goodwin. “Sherry and Craig’s decision to officially join the board is a testament to their dedication to their community and their belief in our hospital. Their contributions have already been impressive, and we eagerly anticipate their continued impact as we prepare for the future.”

CGMH is also pleased to announce the reappointment of Ms. Cleo Noxon and Mr. Michael Thompson for additional three-year terms, in addition to the reappointment of Mr. Joe Prosperi and Mr. Chris Hoffmann for an additional year on the board of directors.

The CGMH board of directors would also like to extend its heartfelt thank you to outgoing directors Mr. David Johnston and Ms. Krista Young for their years of dedicated service. Their leadership has left a lasting impact on CGMH.
